“Success is found in those moments where you are being the best possible version of you – followed by having more and more of those moments.” ~Aaron Simmons
We’re blessed to have Aaron as part of the Marketing Ideas For Printers’ team. His philosophical, reserved, and conscientious nature means he’s in the perfect position to ask some of those hard questions when it comes to developing software. As a Use Case Writer, Aaron is in charge of determining what software does, why it does it, and how it does it. When you combine the information Aaron gleans with his ability as a developer, well, you understand why we said we’re blessed to have him.
Then and Now
Aaron began his career at Marketing Ideas For Printers in the customer service department, but quickly learned he had a knack for writing code and creating routines and processes that just worked.
I had very basic web development skills, but had an opportunity to learn through fulfilling periodic requests from customers for customized code. So, little by little, I’ve learned quite a bit of coding over the years! When I was building uDesignIT! templates for customers, I developed a methodology that allowed me to produce documents with an extremely rapid turnaround time with very few follow-up edit requests from customers – they just worked.
Aaron is currently deep into the realm of helping with the development of Odyssey, but where others might tire, Aaron says it’s his favorite project thus far.
It’s using such new technology, that simply working on it is helping me to learn and grow as a web app developer, while at the same time producing an exciting new product for our customers. Lots of problem-solving and creativity goes into programming! And when you’ve been working on a challenging bit of code, and it runs successfully, you feel unstoppable!
The Best Version of You
One thing that shouldn’t be overlooked when introducing Aaron is his drive to be the best version of himself. In fact, when asked if he could be anyone from any period, Aaron’s response was a simple:
I don’t play that game. My job is to be me, and to do the best I possibly can at it.
He has such a passion for helping others reach their true potential that he has crafted his own method called The Calibration Method. Sound familiar? At the beginning of 2017, Aaron wrote a featured blog for us on how to Calibrate Your Life to Finish Strong in 2017. (Psst! You still have some time left in 2017. Check out Aaron’s method for finishing well.)
Get to Know Aaron
If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
I’m a closet creative. I’d love to do special effects for movies, or work in a video game development studio.
Do you have a motto or personal mantra?
I’d rather know a horrible truth than believe a charming lie.
People would be surprised if they knew:
I once kil–oh, ha, ha, I see what you did there. Nice try! Actually, I’ve literally never told anybody something that led them to say, ‘I would never have guessed that about you.’
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I couldn’t even begin to guess. I try to take things a day at a time. I’m hoping to string together 1,825 superb days, and trust some pretty amazing stuff to come from that.
Aaron has a gift for breaking down a large goal into manageable pieces. That’s why he aligns perfectly with our goal of helping you sell more printing.
