Do you know anyone that does search engine optimization for a living? A typical day in their life might look something like this:
It’s not uncommon for Google to introduce big shifts to their ranking algorithm with little (if any) advance warning. However, the next big change is going to be different because Google has provided a solid date and plenty of information regarding the next big change they’ll be pushing our way on April 21, 2015.
According to Google,
Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.
It’s no surprise that Google will be paying more attention to mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal.
Here’s something you may not know: Websites For Printers websites already have a mobile-friendly version, ready for you to use! For brand new websites it’s turned on by default, but if you’ve had your website for a while, you may need to flip the switch to turn on your mobile website. If you haven’t already turned on your mobile website, you can (and should!) do so now so you’re ready for Google’s next big update.
If you’re a Websites For Printers client, follow these three steps and your mobile website will be ready for use in less than one minute!
Step 1: Login to your Websites For Printers Control Center and go to My Website > Mobile Website.
Step 2: Find the switch that says “Your Mobile Website is Currently Off/On” and make sure the switch is in the “On” position.
Step 3: Select one of the twelve display options available.
That’s it! Follow those steps and you’ll have your mobile website ready to go in less time than it took you to read this post!
You can double-check your work by looking at your mobile website from Google’s perspective. Use Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test page, enter your website’s address, and you’ll see a reassuring report saying Awesome! This page is mobile-friendly.
We’re just getting started! In terms of mobile website technology, we are planning to bring you much, much more in the months ahead. It’s too early to tip those cards yet, but for now … know that when Google’s update is introduced on April 21, we’ve got you covered!
