DesignEdit’s Ready! Here Are Your Next Steps

DesignEdit, the online design tool businesses and consumers love to use to create print-ready design online launches today! Now that DesignEdit is ready for use, here’s what you need to do to make it ready for your customers:

Kick the tires on our demo site

It wouldn’t hurt to know what the fuss is all about. So first, be sure to check out our own demo to see DesignEdit in action. Just scroll down to the middle of www.websitesforprinters.com/optional-features/designedit/ to view a live sample of what your customers can do with DesignEdit.

Skim the documentation

Now would be a good time to skim through our Knowledgebase document, How To Use DesignEdit. There are lots of step-by-step instructions in there that guide you through activating the DesignEdit functionality to an order form. No need to actually follow the steps yet (unless you’re feeling adventurous). For now, just get a sense of what the instructions cover. That way, you’ll know where to go if you need them later.

Activate DesignEdit on a System order form

Okay, now that you know the territory, it’s time to get started. Do you still have “How To Use DesignEdit” open? Now’s a good time to work through the steps to add DesignEdit to an order form. We suggest adding it to Business Cards to get started.

Prepare your site for ecommerce (Optional)

Ecommerce (the ability for your customers to get a price and pay online for their orders with a credit card) is built-in to level 3 websites, but there is some additional setup required to get it running. We say it’s optional, but adding ecommerce to DesignEdit is too powerful to overlook. Here’s how to get ecommerce ready for DesignEdit:

  • Register with a payment gateway, and connect your site to it. You’ll need an online payment processor to help translate those credit card payments from your website into money in your bank. Our Knowledgebase article, How To Accept Credit Card Payments Through Your Website, walks you through that process.
  • Give your products a price. Now that your customers can pay online for their orders, you’ll need to set up how much they should pay. Our Knowledgebase article, Pricing, will walk you through that process.

Tell your customers!

With DesignEdit, you have what your customers are looking for! So make sure they know about it. Promote this new tool on your website through a special callout box, an announcement on your invoices, anything to get the word out.
